There was an awesome interview with Patrick Stewart on BBC overnight with him saying: "I only signed up for Star Trek because of the money and I expected it to get canned before shooting ever started."

in 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit

these men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the los angeles underground

today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers as fortune

if you have a problem

if no one else can help

and if you can find them

maybe you can hire

the a-team

besides to be marketable to today's audiences it'd have to be darker and grittier and edgier

they'd torture and kill everyone

and fight amongst themselves over trivial things like their fee

so i was at the wal*mart yesterday and had to wait a bit in line

a solution came to mind: privatize the checkout process

right now the cashiers are socialist governmnet workers just do ing as much wr0k as it takes to nto get fired

and they are controlled from a bureaucracy on high which is too slow to respond to changing market conditions like long lines forming

but if they had independent private contractors doing the checkout the market could solve this instantly

the contractors can compete with one another to provide faster service at a lower cost

if a line forms, they can instantly adjust their availability to service the demand

there's shitloads of available checkouts but nobody is there to operate them except at christmas

so there's plenty of room for a private checkout marketplace

what say you
