It won't be too bad.

1200: Intro to Cinema (Film Session) 2 hours
1400: Intro to Cinema (Lecture) 1 hour
1500: Russian Cinema (Film Session) 2 hours
1700: Intro to Cinema (Tutorial) 1 hour

So yeah, this isn't so bad relative to what it could be. Since I've now finished my modern history major and Masters is something of a lock, I'm taking some easier classes to finish my course point requirements.

Yeah. I've seen a bunch of Soviet/Russian films, so I'm looking forward to it.

Apply anyway, if you impress and they don't get enough candidates with the experience they have requested they might overlook that. But I hear you, so many professional jobs are looking for 5-10 years experience that you wonder how people are getting 3-5 years anywhere else.

Apply for everything is rule number one

Don't stress over experience terms so long as you have some relevan experience
Let the hirer decide instead of saying no without a chance

Ironic as I was looking at other jobs in my field and I saw something in Denver that looked good, but wanted 5+ years experience (I have 3 :whine: ).

Wouldn't say i'm burned out but there is some frustration resulting from stagnancy.

Sorry I won't give you and job search advice in future so you don't use to reject it

Ps the only way you can have no chance of getting a job is not to apply

Fact. Not conjecture.

i hear "x years of experience" is often used just to reduce the number of applicants and may not be at all necessary for the actual job

whether they have the means to weed out applicants without proof of such experience i do not know but chances are they just don't want to read thousands of resumes

But is it the classic "Entry level position. Experience required." thing?

I actually ran into a couple of those. "Entry level position. 2-3 years experience desired."

California is expensive, recommend Oregon. Good donuts there too.

This is true, but alas if you are competing with someone who has that level of experience chances diminish.

Well they can call where you used to work to ask if you used to work there, you could lie but that seems rather elaborate for something not worth it, and too risky for something that is.

It's west coast hockey. People only seem to notice when they win the Stanley Cup.

P.S. Have I ever posted my picture with Lord Stanley's cup?

Oregon gets a news article whenever they redesign their socks. (i.e. every other hour.)

No but you should. I have several myself!

If the Oregon Ducks played in the SEC, not only would road games suck, but the CFB analysts on ESPN would sppoge so hard their testes would invert. Can't wait for USC to kick the shit out of them next year.

maybe if they're actually looking for some mythical 5 year experience low-level person

most of the time they aren't

MOst of the time, but it comes up in the fields I work in rather frequently.
