At least with Telstra not being a super-monopoly like they were when I first got my phone line connected there back in 2002...
Hobart - Classed as metropolitan for billing purposes (so no regional/remote subsidised connections).
All of Tasmania (including Hobart) - Classed as regional/remote for the purposes of install and maintenance timeframes (1 month - 1 year ETAs).

Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
as it turns out this vicodin i got for my root canal doesn't actually do much for the pain itself, but it does make me incredibly drowsy
Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
lol so my landlady stopped by and said she's going to raise the rent because the cost of living is going up
that's funny cuz the only one of my costs that's been going up
is the rent
but meh it is still fairly reasonable
if i bail it will be due to her new property manager bullshit idea.
i should just buy a house for myself to be rid of it all, but i don't want to pay a five figure interest bill and i don't exactly have a hundred grand stuffed under my mattress either
though there is a piece of shit house down the street for sale for 40k
can't afford that in cash either, but i could def defeat that loan in a reasonable amount of time
the problem is it is a piece of shit down the street
i don't like the people there
and they probably smoked in there
at that point i might as well just buy a plot of empty land and save me the demolition costs

oh man
nice neighborhood
right size (i think, the square footage is good but i want to know building dimensions)
i haven't actually seen it yet but this is pretty tempting
in fact if i had the $119,000 on hand i might just impulse buy (tho i'm more likely to offer 100k)
alas i don't but there is always the option of debt
debt is a high risk game that i don't like one bit
but i'm tempted to play

i hate people who are responsible with money

Dude I'm just bitter that effective regulation means fewer people were foreclosed and housing prices didn't crash here like in the us

Fucking hell ... primary HDD on my rendering rig is going tits up. I just replaced the geriatric graphics card and dead-pixel strewn monitors, now this
Luckily everything important is backed up on an external, and equally lucky Maplin Electronics had a sale on when I popped in today - terabyte HDD and 64 gig SSD for a lot less than I was expecting to pay.
So much for getting some artwork done while GF is off visiting friends ...

Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
so i looked up the records on that house
the current owners bought it 20 years ago for 45k
my view on business is to shoot for the stars.
oh i'll lowball them
i almost can't believe i'm so seriously considering this shit
now though i kinda regret cutting ym clients the slack i did
if it held them to their pay agreements i might have 30% down right now
but on the other hand they migth just be bankrupt if i held them to it too whereas right now they still alive and still paying
altho slowly
but mang

At work, the usual night shift of three kitchenhands for 5.5 hours is now one for 5.5 (six hours minus a half hour dinner break), and two for five.
I and another arrive at six, after one guy has been there for an hour. That kitchenhand has been upstairs doing cleaning elsewhere. We're massively behind. I get shouted at for not being fast enough. Even though it's me and the new guy working a kitchen that serves hundreds of people.
Good work new head chef.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other? All the egg is on my face, either way.
I'm actually feeling way better than I expected to feel today.

You guys see that video that was supposed to be the smoking gun for Obama's secret socialist muslim agenda because he spoke at a Harvard law school protest twenty years ago?
Most of the video is pretty boring, but the first few seconds has one of my uncles eating a sandwich.
Just thought I'd share.

So the zoo near where I live had this awesome polar bear exhibit. There was a section that was below the water line, and the polar bears would dive into the water there and show off for the visitors.
Last time I went there, there was a bunch of construction going on to upgrade the polar bear area. Yesterday I discover that they decided the upgrade was going to be too expensive, and so they aren't going to be bringing the polar bears back.
Since they aren't going to have polar bears anymore, that area's going to have the tigers there.

Hmm. Battlefield 3 for $20 . . . I think I'm willing to tolerate Origin for that price.

Feeling a bit better at the moment...
The best steak I've ever cooked and some sauteed onions really helped.
