Re: btech
Zod has gifted me a 2-day pass so we can totes do some evening roboto over the weekend
I've had a bit more of a play around with it, and had a closer look at the workshop/parts store. Amazingly it's not just slot based, there are categories. If you remember AC4 it looks similar to that, but if you go into the 'R Arm Unit' bit, you can scroll through a series of categories. So it gets broken down into stuff like rifles, laser blades, cannons etc, so it's something less of a chore to deal with. Also there's one of ever leg type available at the beginning of the game for purchase Stark, so you should be able to buy the tank type either immediately or after a couple of quick Order missions.
Also I was mistaken, it's not that tanks can use both guns, it's that they can use two cannons simultaneously, while other leg types need to use both hands to support it.
I'm still not quite used to how the ACs handle. I keep wanting to play it like ACFA lol, but it's way less fiddly to mess about with agility and weapons because of how boost is a toggle, while quick boosts and jumping/wallkicks rely on the thumb.
I named my team FULL FRONTAL

I just about doubled my money doing a handful of Order missions, which are really quick like the ACFA missions. Story missions seem like they'll be they 20 minute forays with checkpoints.
I should at least try to not have junk gear lol

Oh man no being used to the whole 'category' thing, I didn't realise that you start the game off with one of every kind of part. So you have a set of KE/CE/TE resistant cores and arms, one of every kind of leg type, one of every shoulder unit like CIWS and automatic guns and missiles, one of every kind of weapon. It's all 'junk', but it's a really generous spread of starting parts.
Secondary objectives are just little achievement things you can aim for in a mission. They're stuff like 'destroy ten tanks' or 'destroy four high mobility ACs' or 'destroy boss really quickly'. You get some bonus cash for doing them, my cheapest has been 10,000AU, the best was 30,000. So far I've only had them in the story mission I just did. Order missions might not have them.

Re: btech
I splurged on a whole new AC and new rifle and CIWS. Need to unlock some more parts which I guess will take story missions like last time.
Also dude have you mastered boost charge yet. Tanks have the best rocket kick lol. Someone told me that a tank can one-hit a light biped with boost charge

Man you are an elite robot tuner.
Re: btech
Itsfunny cause they removed heaps of the stats bit the parts still have nice knock-on effects
Like I'm using a head known for stability and camera performance, an Fcs with wide angle and autocannons, thermal cannons, Gatling guns etc so it's fun
Although my tracks are hella slow compared to the heavy chicken I made
Also fraud the HUD rings tell you about power, health and ammo so UI PROBLEM AVERTED
Also a review I read said that you couldn't swap weapons until they were empty which is clearly false
You just can't swap heavy ones

Re: btech
man i really like acv's configuration and stuff
but the ai is horrible
the missions are bland and boring because each enemy is just a pool of hitpoints with a dps way lower than yours
and man why dont' tanks move, seriously

Basic enemies aren't really great, no. I like some of it though, like those crazy ass snake launching missiles.
Order missions with normal enemies = real waste of time though. At least story missions have reasonably interesting environments and events and trains.

Re: btech
yeah AC never really handled non AC enemies that well
it's like guys you're just using the same movement physics so go nuts
do super fast hover units with missiles and shit
http://armoredcore.wikia.com/wiki/Dawn
like that but not as shitty

Re: btech
yeah eventually i headed back to the garage and retooled into a high mobility thing with laser swords
i gotta say though it seems like ACV puts a lot more emphasis on tailoring your AC to the requirements of the mission. in most of the older games you could use most mech archtypes in most missions but this you do kinda need to pay attention

Being able to re-tool in a story mission multiple times is a part of that, yeah.

Re: btech
i played 1v1 ac4 the other day at a friend's house and he had his robots set up to basically be airborne ~99% of the time
is this normal or are there Disadvantages to that sort of design?
(i'm not slamming on it, it's just the first time i've played an AC game since playing AC1 on a friend's playstation years and years ago)
