Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
Usually "manufacturing defects" are covered for a certain amount of time and if you're withing that time period and only want a one-to-one exchange they'll be pretty reasonable.
I don't think I've ever had a problem with returning merchandise that was faulty.
Actually, scratch that. I had one "problem" when I returned a beard trimmer (back when I had a goatee) because someone had been clever and replaced the more expensive model with one of the cheaper models (and then presumably bought the expensive model in the cheap box). It had happened twice, believe it or not, and the lady running the service counter mouthed off about how I should have checked the box before buying it.

but she exchanged/returned it, right?
bad customer service but the job gets done means you weren't violated or whatever
canada has better consumer protection i guess since one year or 90 days or whatever warranty on manufacturing defects/defects in material or workmanship is standard
stores just return it to the supplier and get a credit for their next order which i assumed was how businesses worked

Yeah, she exchanged it. That's why I put the word problem in quotation marks.
Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
It's probably a sales culture or state thing
If it reduces bonuses or counts negatively individuals won't want to do it etc

It is, but it depends on the relationship the store has with the wholesaler.
Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
Oh man. Wanna hear something hilarious? The receipt I thought was my GoW3 receipt is actually for the controller I bought a week earlier. And my mom, who keeps every fucking receipt ever, can't find the one for the game. Luckily we are pretty sure she used her rewards card so they can look up the purchase that way. If this is the one time she didn't (like the one time she threw away the fucking receipt) then I'm boned.
Re: The Testingtard's Lament: Boo-Hoo-in' Revolution
Well, took the game in this morning and they didn't even need a receipt, just swapped the game disk and was good to go. New disk works perfectly.
But you didn't think it would be that easy did you? Turns out I won't be getting a GoW3 XBox after all. I won't get into all the gory details, but suffice it to say my mother is an idiot.

The sad part is I kept telling her not to order it, but she insisted on it. So I shouldn't even be disappointed. But I am anyway. Life's a bitch. Oh well.

Bought a car, nice reliable diesel Citreon ZX for only £450 .... Yay!
First personal car in 18 years, been named driver on company policy including personal use so have no personal no claims discount & 10 years worth of fleet policy NCD isn't transferrable ... first years insurance premium is £450 ..... not yay.

there's some openings in the area. i've already sent three apps out. thankfully my boss is cool and said he supports me using work hours to go hustle for a new job if i want. tomorrow i'm gonna stick around work and just work on making sure shit is documented for my co-workers. it's going to really suck for the one desktop guy that's going to be left.

My uni is doing away with Honours.
Looks like it's a coursework Masters for Gands.

Supposed to be 6 to 12 inches of snow in the morning. Hopefully that means I get to take the day off work thanks to our kickass snow policy.
