So, my father's sick, and has now apparently forgotten his phone while going to the "clinic", and I haven't heard from him in 6 hours when he should be awake.

There are times when having a family member in another country on the other side of the world's a bit stressful.

Ah, you're the first Canadian I've met to hold this particular position.

Really?

I think we have enough of our own we can point to and be proud of.

He fought them over there so Jack Baur didn't have to torture them over here.

Jack Bauer doesn't torture for love of country. He doers it because he hasn't taken a piss in 8 years.

I will be in Calgary tomorrow and I don't have appropriate footwear.

It's Stampede, and my choices are black sneakers, white sneakers, black dress shoes, black dress boots, or navy desert boots.

No cowboy boots :(

I just can't believe that touchscreens are good enough
I've felt awkward for the ten minutes total I've used other people's smartphones to send texts, but maybe I'd get used to it

Can you get to Spain? The Galaxy chat looks like it might work for you.

you had me excited there for a second, but no it has the same blackberry-style horribleness as everything
what I would want is something like this
Image
with a slide-out keyboard, but with typical smartphone stuff (touchscreen etc) rather than old phone stuff on the front

Dang, what happened to the days when I had to go to the UK to get cool phones? I can't find anything.

I might have to import from the US *smirk*

or maybe just go for a normal smartphone
it's just that texting is the main thing I do with my current olde-style phone, and touchscreens feel weird

That's what I thought when I got my iPhone, but you can adjust. What I really miss is having the whole screen available when typing.

Oh, I'll probably adjust
if I could find a phone that had what I wanted, I'd buy it straight away, even if it cost a bit extra, and I can't be the only person who thinks like that (rightly or wrongly)
just seems like a gap in the market

I got one for xmas a few years back. It works, but it was too bulky for my pocket.
