Huh. When I first read Aaron's post, I thought it said he'd kick you in the lake, which I figured was just a Testing-ish way of saying he'd kick you in the nuts because Lake Michigan looks like a penis.

Turns out he actually was just threatening to kick you until you fell into a body of water.

Even though it's Aaron that said it, this actually goes against my preconceived notions about this place.

Carry on.

So my ALICE pack finally arrived, several weeks after I ordered it

I went to leave feedback and noted he hadn't left feedback for me; had to play is neutral lest I get hit with a negative review

Damn man. It must've really sucked for you.

I guess seeing the recruitment commercials just made me think it would be a career where i'd be treated like a human being instead of a piece of shit like I am now. Soldiers get all kinds of respect in the U.S.

become a firefighter

do public service, get recognition for what you do, and the culture won't require you to be a piece of shit fascist like being a cop would

That's more of a career thing though. I already know what I want to do career wise, I'm going to be a teacher. I was mostly just considering the Army as an interim step to get more money for school, which, If I decide to become a college professor like i'm leaning towards, I'll need plenty of.

It seems like the army would give me the best chance to do something meaningful and important (Serve my country and all that) until I get my degree (which is going to take a LOOOOOOOOOONG time) and make some money while i'm at it.

Go to the oil patch.

Work.

You should join the army if you think that soldiering is a worthwhile thing to do. If not, then find something else.

Nothing you would ever do in the army will be meaningful or important.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that, but I would definitely say that "nothing you would do in the army is guaranteed to be meaningful and important."

For example, the Army Corps of Engineers does a lot of really important work during disaster recovery.

i am amazed at zod's ability to be the worst poster in a gun control thread that involves sea skimmer posting "knives just as bad as guns" and an appearance by rouge

I'm amazed that Lonestar admitted to trolling. Of course nothing will happen to him, but it's still fun to point it out.

But seriousely, I love how that irrideemably stupid Hellion accuses people of strawmanning, and then proceeds to strawman pro-gun control arguments.

All I see is a bunch of shitposting by Lonestar. Cause hey why bother talking about the topic itself when we can just complain about what's being posted?

You might but you probably won't.

Join the Coast Guard if you want meaningful stuff. At least they rescue people.

Bonus points in that you're less likely to get shot at in the coast guard, aside from the odd Mexican drug cartel.
