Re: Godammed SDN
For some reason I can't help but think of the guy in my Intro to Engineering class who was dropping algebra for the third time and couldn't understand why we were telling him to switch majors.
Honestly, if you can't pass algebra you probably shouldn't be in college anyhow. You're either too immature (or lazy) to work at it, too stupid or both.

Look son, if they started shooting 200 petateragigaubertons all over the place, there wouldn't be much of a planet left. So clearly they can but because the Empire isn't actually evil they don't. Also shroud of the dark side.VF5SS wrote:we will never see orbital bombardment in ster wurz

It's just another "I'm poor" sob story disguised as an article post.
Re: Godammed SDN
Just ignore her commentary, the article itself was quite interesting. I didn't realize the issue was that widespread.
Re: Godammed SDN
It's hard to not notice it when you live here, especially in cities like mine where homelessness is a massive problem. (Pretty much every major intersection has some homeless person on it begging for money.)Aaron wrote:Just ignore her commentary, the article itself was quite interesting. now it's a fairly complex issue there but blargh whateveri was going to say wrote: Let me rephrase.
You said: "Show an example wherein a debate resulted in a national change without eventually requiring a vote or some kind of extra-judicial shit to back it up.
[...] but the fact that they got creamed in the elections that followed only re-affirms my position"
But, here's the thing: those repeals and legal challenges haven't succeeded. Obamacare is the law, despite not helping win elections nor having a violent revolution to back it up.
So, if it re-affirms your position, then I don't understand what your position is, and it might help you convince people if you were more clear.
Re: Godammed SDN
SURPRISE it was scrawl
at least he did unlock it but this is kinda ridiculous
As for the rest of you: I know you can do better, and I'm going to insist that you make the effort.

Re: Godammed SDN
I'd say something about how this highlights the problems with discipline on TEO but that implies that SCRawl would actually do something useful at any point ever. His entire approach seems to be predicated on "Oh dear, your posts are making this thread unpleasant to read!!!" instead of Zinegata being a crazy shithead who's outright ignoring people's arguments in favor of screeching about how it's a "posse" out to get him.
Re: Godammed SDN
is there some kind of competition to see who can lock and unlock a thread the most
Re: Godammed SDN
If there is SCRawl is world champion douchebag.

Re: Godammed SDN
I wonder if some mods might lock a thread before splitting a post out so then they don't have to deal with people replying to the split post while they're moving it.
Anyone with more insight into how the mods work over there know if this happens at all?

Yeah, I think that's what they do.

Re: Godammed SDN
This does happen, but unless they're splitting out a bunch of posts, it usually only lasts for a minute or so- I think I've caught mods "in the act" once when they were splitting out a single post.Civil War Man wrote:I wonder if some mods might lock a thread before splitting a post out so then they don't have to deal with people replying to the split post while they're moving it.

Yeah, especially if you're like me and you can never manage to complete the split before someone replies to it (phpBB's system for merging and splitting posts is pretty clunky).phongn wrote:It's sort of standard procedure.adr wrote:Yeah, I think that's what they do.Civil War Man wrote:I wonder if some mods might lock a thread before splitting a post out so then they don't have to deal with people replying to the split post while they're moving it.

I'm pretty sure it's also supposed to be standard procedure to announce the thread is temporarily locked for a split. I don't know if SCrawl did that or not.
