Re: Testing Chat Thread
For a group that spends a lot of time shitting on Ayn Rand's philosophies, Bean certainly seems to be agreeing with her in that thread. As I mentioned in one of the goddamn sdn threads, between the racism, the sexism, and now this, they've gotten extremely right-wing while publicly touting themselve...

You could raise questions as to whether the Tea Party was successful at all. They've managed to have a major impact on the political narrative, but it's always been an arm of the Republican party, and these days it seems to be viewed more as a millstone than an asset. A large number of Tea Party can...

Oh god, i forgot the alcoholism. They were big drinkers, and that filtered over to the other units as guys rotated through. I'd rate that as more of a general military thing. In my (limited) experience working jobs in places that served alcohol, soldiers and teachers are two groups that are, on ave...

at least svu had some decent stories though I only saw one episode of SVU. In it, the cops systematically ruined this guy's life by very publicly accusing him of raping multiple underage girls based largely on the say-so of one of his students (the guy was a teacher). They arrest him in the middle ...

Would this be before or after you kick me into lake Michigan? Huh. When I first read Aaron's post, I thought it said he'd kick you in the lake, which I figured was just a Testing-ish way of saying he'd kick you in the nuts because Lake Michigan looks like a penis. Turns out he actually was just thr...

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to handle it. But you know what? I'm okay with that. When I was applying for colleges years ago, West Point sent me a recruitment brochure. My family laughed because they figured that I would be a really shitty soldier. And I felt no need to try to prove them wrong.

So there have been a lot of accusations of the recent Batman movie being anti-Occupy. I'm thinking it's slightly different on reflection. Think about it. Bane is a foreign mercenary who inspires blind fanatical devotion in his followers. He recruits primarily among the poor and disenfranchised. He i...

oh, also, even more re: schools and maths. If you want to teach math as something beautiful, you first have to realise that schools couldn't teach the appearance of rainbows as something beautiful. When you are forced to do things, in a repetitive and scheduled way, for no reason you can discern, e...

The "enlightened western society" with its democracy and individual freedoms was made possible by technology. Could you have democracy before the printing press? I doubt it; democracy requires widespread public knowledge.

I personally don't have the attention span for play by post. Setting aside a block of time to play in person or over a chat works, but I inevitably lose interest when playing on a message board. There really isn't any flow to the story that way.

Focusing on combat stats beyond the basics isn't often useful. Most seasoned players will avoid getting into fights because combat te...
